Sourcing and supplier scouting in China
Finding a supplier is easy. Finding the one that can hold your tolerance in the third year is the work: technical screening, plant visits, samples measured, price negotiated on a real process.
What scouting means here
We do not send lists. A list is what you get from a marketplace; it moves the problem to you. Our scouting starts from the drawing and the process route, because that is what determines which plants can make the part and which simply have a similar photo on their website.
For each candidate we check equipment, capacity, quality system and references, then we ask for a sample and measure it.
- Process route defined from the drawing
- Long list built from the cluster that actually makes that process
- Technical screening by phone and catalogue — before any visit
- Plant visit with equipment and capacity check
- Sample production and dimensional report
- Price analysis on material, cycle time, tooling and margin
- Qualification and contract terms
How scouting works
Typically four to eight weeks from brief to qualified supplier.
Brief
Drawing, volumes, target cost, quality requirements and the constraints you cannot move.
Screening
Six to ten candidates reduced to three on technical grounds, with the reasons written down.
Verification
Plant visits, audits when needed, samples measured and compared side by side.
Negotiation
Price built on the real process, tooling ownership, Incoterms, payment terms and escalation clauses.
What we source most
Brass and bronze
Forged and machined CW617N and CW724R parts for valves, fittings and sanitary applications.
SectorsStainless and steel
CNC turned and milled parts, including AISI 316 for cooling and process equipment.
Cooling componentsCastings and forgings
Sand casting, investment casting, closed-die forging, with machining and surface treatment coordinated.
Audit the foundryPlastic technical parts
Injection moulding in PE, PP, PPR and engineering polymers, with mould approval before series.
Inspect the lotThe cost of a supplier chosen badly
A wrong supplier does not fail immediately. It delivers the first lot, then starts to substitute material, stretch tolerances and delay shipments — and by then the tooling is amortised, the customer has qualified the part and changing supplier costs more than tolerating the problem.
This is why the sample stage matters more than the quotation stage.

What you receive
A shortlist with a technical file per supplier: equipment list, photos of the plant, capacity, quality documents, sample measurements, price comparison and our recommendation with the risks stated.
The file is written so that your technical office can challenge it — and so that the decision stays yours.
Questions about sourcing
Do you work on commission or on a fee?
On a fee for the scouting and qualification work, so the recommendation is not driven by a percentage on the order. For long-term production management we work on a retainer.
Can you find a supplier for a part we have never produced?
Yes, when the drawing and the function are clear. If the process is still open we propose two routes and compare their cost and risk.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes, before the technical brief. Supplier disclosure is limited to what is necessary to quote.
How many suppliers do you visit?
Usually three to five plants per project, chosen after a screening that eliminates the rest on technical grounds.
Can you manage the supplier after qualification?
Yes: recurring inspections, non-conformity management and escalation are part of our production management service.
